Kentucky Rural Letter Carriers' Association

Although it doesn’t seem like it, Summer 2024 has come and gone. The national convention in Reno and our fall meeting in London are also in the books. Both were successful and although a lot of work went into both, we were able to accomplish a lot as well. Next up is SAC in January. Please check out the “SAC” tab for more info. The next state function will be the Winter Meeting in Elizabethtown in February. Hoping to see many familiar and even more new faces there! Remember, union starts with YOU! Come check things out and get involved. The more involvement we have from our membership the stronger our state and national union become.

The 2024 KYRLCA State Convention is in the books! What a successful year District B had!! District B received the outstanding district of the year award. We also received 2 nd place in the table centerpiece contest for the banquet. The outstanding member of the year award was presented to Kate Rahn as well. Of the six first timers, two were from our district! Thank you to Beth Branstetter and Michelle Blair for attending your first state convention. Kim Harrell was elected to the State Board. Congratulations Kim on your board seat! KYRLCA is also sending District B members Kim Harrell, Jenny Boyd, Jessica Cornwell and Kate Rahn to the National Convention in Reno this August. Yvonne Harmon is planning on attending as well. The KYRLCA Fall Meeting will be in London, KY this October 4-6 th . Hopefully we will see you there.

Thank you District B members! We had a great turnout for ourannual meeting in March. There were four first-timers and wehad a couple first-time delegates as well. We were able to raiseover $1,100 for the Bluegrass Mailbox Express Fund. To say weare proud of our District is an understatement! Yvonne Harmon was re-elected Secretary/Treasurer; Jane Virgin was elected Vice President; and I was re-elected President. Yvonne was also elected as our 2024/2025 District B Outstanding Member. Congratulations, Yvonne!

I know it is hard to get leave approved in most offices, especially for Saturdays, but it is SO important to attend our State Convention in June, not just to fulfill your delegate responsibilities but also to attend the carrier seminar, the lectures from the guest  speakers, and help raise money for PAC. Right now, it is a critical time for not only rural carriers but postal employees as a whole. Help us improve our craft and make your concerns heard. Regardless of whether you can attend the State Convention, be on the look out for your National Delegate Ballot. All members will have a ballot mailed to  them. All you must do is fill it out and mail it back. Hope everyone is having a great spring! Stay safe out there.

Kate Rahn, District B President
